If you have a car that you have problems with the steering angle sensor, modern vehicles, guys, all of them have one what it does. Okay, it's part of the traction control system.
It detects how many degrees you turn your steering wheel. And if you guys have a code for a bad sensor over let's say, you have the ABS and traction control light on or just one of them. It could be because. Of that sensor now in today's video guys who explained how to test it how to know if it's good, and even if it's good, you still may get a code, and we explain how to fix that or demonstrate on a BMW.
But most of the cars will be that way stay with us guys. In addition, let me introduce you quick. We have more than 200 videos on every car. We get at the shop because our mission is to save you guys as much money as we can. So please subscribe to the channel like the video and leave a comment below. Thanks. You guys for watching and let's start on it.
Now. So the steering angle sensor on your vehicle guys. Okay, detects how many degrees you turn your steering wheel left or right, and it's somewhere, usually on the steering column, that's, where it's located the computer that we'll be using now for the testing guys, okay, this one here, but you can use a cheaper, computer, okay, and I'm going to get one more out. Okay, let me show you two computers that can do all that stuff and pretty much. Both of them can do. That and we'll have both of them listed in the description of the video below.
This is another computer guys right here. Fox well NT 650, both of the computers can do the same thing for the steering angle sensor. But this one is way cheaper. Now, if you want something that can do everything on your vehicle, you can do computer programming.
You can do pretty much the other level. Quick, one, guys for any car. Okay? This is it guys check. Both of them will be listed in the description of the video below for your.
Convenience so make sure you check it out, no, honey, you guys. Okay. Let me show you how many makes it support.
So if you have one, you will see if yours is there, we have a BMW that's. The one that we'll be using. This is the tablet computer here. And wireless programming device is connected to the or belief your vehicle.
Okay, over here you can see. This is the OLD connector back now, what we'll be doing next? Guess how we'll need to go ahead and stack the car on some you may have to wait to start me until. You connect the computer. But on this one, you can go ahead, start the car. Okay like that. Now, what we will be doing will select BMW here.
Okay, we'll click, automatic selection. You can enter your VIN number again, is going to tell you what vehicle you have it's going to decode all that 2005 BMW take this year, you can see does all that calculation on its own. Now, if you guys did phone and work on your car, a phone, an alignment, something like that, you may need to recalibrate your sensor, why? Because it may.
Be off of your when you do phone an alignment or anything like that. It can act. You have to program your sensor too much. Otherwise, it won't be calibrated. You may get the ABS and traction control light zone.
So you click Diagnostics parking on different cars. The layout may differ images have a call it the action control module or ABS module on this one it's in the chassis, and it's called okay, right here steering angle sensor. Now, that's, what we'll be doing now focus we need to test. It will go. To live data and check this thing out now, okay, it tells us guys how many degrees the steering angle sensor is detected that the steering wheel has turned right now. It's negative.
One so that's, pretty close to zero. Okay and I need to bring the steering wheel to about like right here. Okay that right there is straight into zero degrees. Now if I turn the steering wheel to the left will get positive numbers, how many degrees I take on the steering will check it out if I turn to the right once. We pass the neutral point, it will be negative numbers. Okay.
And we know that our sensor is working now you have to test it all the way to the left all the way to the right, because sometimes you may have a spot that's wore out this one spot. So check it all the way. Now, if you said, you're steering, wheel, straight guys, okay, straight. And your value is not zero or deviate too much, or if it's like negative to your positive, two, three, that's, fine guys.
But if it's like five, ten degrees off, it will trigger the. Traction control and abs life. And what you have to do. Okay, let me explain to you quick.
You will need to go guys back usually under service, or something like that. You can find. Okay, your steering angle sensor calibration for watching that's every time you replace the sensor. We have to calibrate it as well. Let me show you where this one itself adjustment sensors steering angle sensor and asked us if you want to calibrate it, if it was replaced, you wish to carry out single sensor steering angle sensitive. Calibration, and it just tells you how to do that.
Now the procedure is not very complicated at all. You just click, yes, if you need to set wheels precisely in the state ahead position, okay, out of this state would look okay, and it's establishing vehicle communication. Now, lights will be on ABS brake lights. The matching procedure was carried out correctly steering angle, right now. It's, zero, you can check yours if it's working now, if everything is good. And now we just click continue and of this module.
So you can see guys, we are ready to go now in order to turn the lights off, you need to reset your codes if you have any and that's it guys. Thank you for watching please subscribe to the channel for more videos and see you guys next time.
